The history of Newman Thomson starts back in 1973 when Chris Newman and John Thomson began working as a partnership specialising in copywriting and advertising. Incorporation followed in 1976 when the emphasis changed towards production as well as printing. In 2000 the premises were outgrown in Brighton, resulting in relocation to the current 25,000 sq. ft. factory in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, making Newman Thomson one of the largest printers in Mid-Sussex. The company now offers a 24 hour production cycle through the use of lithographic and digital machinery capable of offering more or less every print service you could imagine, from graphic design to our on-site finishing services including binding, embossing and laminating. We can offer a wide range of printed materials including promotional folders, business cards, stationery, large format print and brochures.
Not one to stand still, our plant list is ever evolving and in the last few months we have added another Heidelberg CD74 Speedmaster 10 colour litho press (one of three 10 colour presses we own) as well as an HP Indigo 7600 7 colour digital press in the last few years, and we have recently upgraded one of our guillotines. We also recently upgraded all the lighting in our factory to low energy LED lighting, saving costs and reducing our environmental impact. You can find out more about our environmental considerations on our environmental page, and you can read more about our plant list by visiting this page.
The printing marketplace is a fast moving environment and nobody can afford to stand still. As well as making sure we are as respectful as possible in terms of our environmental impact we also like to employ the latest technologies to deliver the best possible experience for our customers.
Our latest development comes in the form of our Print on Demand web to print system. Developed hand in hand with an industry leader, we can offer our clients their own private portal where they can manage, design and order their own print. This system can accommodate a range of options from the most basic of variable data (such as a name and phone number on a business card) all the way through to a scratch-built and designed multiple page brochure.
We even offer self-branded ‘shopfronts’ whereby you can offer a printing service to you clients, using your branding safe in the knowledge the jobs will be produced with the same care and attention we apply to all clients.
