Sussex Litho Printing Specialists
Newman Thomson have been running litho printing presses for over 40 years. The processes have changed hugely over that time, but the principle remains the same. Metal plates carry the image which pick up the ink and press it into the sheet of paper. Four of these plates make up a typical image – Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black [CMYK], and then another four for the reverse. Some of these machines can run at speeds of over 16,000 sheets per hour, making them incredibly efficient for larger volume jobs.
Our Heidelberg Litho Presses
Newman Thomson currently have three B2 Heidelberg lithographic presses. All three presses are all 10 colour perfectors, meaning we can apply a 5th colour or a sealant to the print in the same pass as the four process colours. Early in 2017 we removed one of our older Speedmaster 74’s and replaced it with a newer CD74 10 colour, the CD-74s are specifically designed for printing packaging, making them ideal for running heavier stocks and boards. This brings our current litho fleet to 1 x Heidelberg Speedmaster 74 10 colour and 2 x Heidelberg Speedmaster CD74 presses.
