Newman Thomson Go Greener – Processless Plates
In the last month big changes have been occurring in our studio with the migration from traditional chemical plate developing being replaced with the processless Kodak Sonora X system.
Here we look into what some of the benefits are of using this new processless system are:
Water Savings
The amount of water used in the wash-up process of plates is considerable, going processless removes the need for this as there are now no chemicals on the plates, the result, we use less water which is good for us, and good for the environment.
No Chemical Waste
By removing processing, we remove the need for chemicals. Whilst we have always been conscious and responsible of how we deal with our waste products, the removal of chemicals from our plating process is simply the best way to deal with the problem. Again, better for us, better for you and better for the planet.
Saving time plate to press
By cutting out processing we see a significant reduction in time from plate to press, this means our studio team have more time to spend on doing what they do best, i.e. preparing artwork and making plates, rather than cleaning machines and transferring plates from machine to machine.
Energy Savings
Having already covered the water saving, going processless saves energy too. Processors are power hungry machines, and are generally running all day every day, again, by removing this step we see a massive saving in the amount of energy we’re using, again, good us and good for the environment.
Less cleanup and maintenance time
Anyone who has been unfortunate to have to clean up a processor will know it’s a messy, time consuming job. Alongside this, the removal of the step negates the need for time consuming and expensive maintenance and repair work to the processors.
