Laminating (not to be confused with encapsulating), is the process of adding a very thin plastic film which covers the entire area of the print. These plastic films are available in a range of finishes and give a deeper and more robust finish to the print. Laminate is available in Gloss, Matt, Silk, and a variety of specialist finishes such as “soft touch” and “anti-scuff”.
A huge range of different products are laminated, but the most prolific examples are the covers of books and magazines, menus, business cards, folders and POS items.
